Boots Junior Hockey Academy

Introduction

The Boots Junior Academy is an extremely important part of the club and is at the forefront of the club's development plans for the future.

The Junior Academy has a comprehensive coaching programme that includes fitness and "Speed-Agility-Quickness" as well as general and advanced hockey skills coaching. The club annually holds England Hockey "Stix Skills" coaching and testing and all coaching is provided in a safe and fun atmosphere by friendly, experienced and qualified coaching staff.

The Junior Academy is open to all standards; however, the most talented members will be identified and nurtured to ensure that they have the best possible start to their hockey career.

The junior academy will be entering local competitions so that the members are able to put their skills to the test against other school and club teams in the region.

Team Managers

All teams are supported by a coach and or manager to ensure that the members are properly organised, leaving them to concentrate on playing. To become a Team Manager please speak to Natasha or Mike or see our volunteer page.

Junior members have the opportunity to win a number of trophies at the end of season award ceremony all members will receive certificates.

The Junior Academy is closely linked to an increasing number of local primary and secondary schools so that the club is able to build upon the foundation of basic skills already set up by the schools.

Accreditation

England Hockey Clubs First

In 2009, Boots Hockey Club gained Hockey Clubs First accreditation in recognition of the clubs professional approach and management of the junior section and providing a child safe environment.

Sport England

As a club we are very focused and aim to set the coaching sessions to a high and quality level without taking the fun element out making it enjoyable for all.

Over the summer of 2006 Boots executive committee made a business plan setting objectives to make the academy an important part of the club and this has continued to the present day when the Academy is as important to our future as ever.
